God our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan,
You called Your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to be an apostle of Christian
family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor.
Through the example of his life and virtue, may we follow Your Son Jesus Christ
more closely, fulfilling His commandment of charity and building up His Body,
which is the Church. Let the inspiration of Your servant prompt us to greater
confidence in Your love so that we may continue his work of caring for the needy
and the outcast. We humbly ask that You glorify Your servant Father Michael J.
McGivney on earth according to the design of Your holy will. Through his
intercession, grant the favor I now present. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life, and for the lives of all my
brothers and sisters. I know there is nothing that destroys more life than
abortion, yet I rejoice that You have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your
Son. I am ready to do my part in ending abortion. Today I commit myself never
to be silent, never to be passive, never to be forgetful of the unborn. I commit
myself to be active in the pro-life movement, and never to stop defending life
until all my brothers and sisters are protected, and our nation once again
becomes a nation with liberty and justice not just for some, but for all.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Most holy Virgin, who deigned to come to Fatima to reveal the treasures of graces
hidden in the recitation of the Rosary, inspire our hearts with a sincere love of
this devotion, that meditating on the Mysteries of our Redemption recalled therein,
we may obtain the conversion of sinners, the conversion of Russia, and (other
intentions), which we ask of you in this Novena, for the greater glory of God, for
your own honor, and for the good of souls. Amen. Our Lady of the Rosary of
Fatima, pray for us.
(composed by Pope Leo XIII, 1888)
Sancte Michael Archangele, defende nos in praelio. Contra nequitiam et insidias
diaboli esto praesidium. Imperet illi Deus, supplices deprecamur: tuque,
Princeps militiae caelestis, Satanam aliosque spiritus malignos, qui ad
perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo, divina virtute, in infernum detrude.
Amen.
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our protection against the
wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray: and do
thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan
and all evil spirits who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
Glorious St. Paul, most zealous apostle, martyr for the love of Christ: Give us a
deep faith, a steadfast hope, a burning love for our Lord, so that we can proclaim
with you: "It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me." Help us to
become apostles serving the Church with a pure heart, witnesses to her truth and
beauty amidst the darkness of our days. With you we praise God our Father: "To Him
be the glory, in the Church and in Christ, now and forever." Amen.
O most holy Mary, dearest Virgin, Mother of God; O thou, who far more than we, dost
realize in this world of ours, scarcely anything supernatural and pleasing to God
can be done without the action of the priest: We beseech thee, implore God to stir
up a vast new army of holy priests, who for the greatest glory of God will
incessantly renew throughout the world, the most holy sacrifice of the Mass; who will
prepare millions of souls to become living tabernacles of the Most Holy Trinity, and
thus, in keeping with God's plan, renew the face of the earth. O Mary, Queen of the
Clergy, give us many holy priests. Amen.
Lord, source of eternal life and truth, give to Your shepherd the Pope a spirit of courage
and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love. By governing with fidelity those
entrusted to his care, may he, as successor to the apostle Peter and Vicar of Christ,
build Your Church into a sacrament of unity, love, and peace for all the world. We ask
this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
